Practice Overview

The Beginning

As a young Chiropractor, Michael Martin DC moved to Texas in September of 1977 after practicing with his father in Chicago, Illinois for a year and a half. This was a time when many Chiropractors practiced chiropractic out of a small office in their home. Dr. Martin had a different vision, and despite limited resources and with a young family to support, he established the Martin Chiropractic Clinic (MCC) in Plano in an attractive six room suite in a modern professional building. From the beginning, the focus of Dr. Martin’s system of Chiropractic care was to provide the quality conservative and non-surgical treatment for disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal system, disorders which are today known as Neuromusculoskeletal (NMS) conditions. The system worked by combining traditional chiropractic in combination with the best new treatments in technologies available.

Patient Service

Patients came and were excited about the difference. MCC quickly grew and became one of the largest Chiropractic clinics anywhere. Over the years MCC has served well over 16,000 patients. Several dozen young Chiropractors started their careers in Chiropractic at MCC, learning Dr. Martin’s systematic approach, gaining experience and treating hundreds of patients before starting their own practices. Today these Doctors of Chiropractic are helping thousands of patients in their successful practices throughout Texas and in many other states around the country. Today Dr. Martin still serves as the President and CEO of the Martin Chiropractic Clinic and is joined in practice by Senior Staff Doctor, Oscar Presas DC, and a highly trained, friendly and enthusiastic staff led by Clinic Director, Kim Johnson.

Community Outreach

Community outreach has always been important at MCC. The Martin Chiropractic Clinic doctors and staff have strived to be active participants in the community. MCC has provided free children’s clinics and always provided considerable charitable Chiropractic care for those in need. Over the years Dr. Martin and MCC have supported the Plano Police and Fire Departments, the Plano ISD Health Careers Clinical Rotation Program, the YMCA, the Jaycees, the Boy Scouts and the Plano Chamber of Commerce. MCC has sponsored many local clubs, activities, and athletic teams as well as larger events like the Dallas Cup Soccer Tournament. In January 2011 MCC established a “Pay It Forward (PIF)” program supporting the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County. MCC has donated several thousand dollars to aid children who are victims of abuse by making a donation to the Advocacy Center for every patient new to the clinic.

The Future

Today, Dr. Martin continues his work to improve conservative and non-surgical care available for patients with Neuromusculoskeletal conditions, searching for new treatments and technologies and implementing the improvements. In January of 2004, Dr. Martin founded another company named Chiro1 Inc to benefit even more patients by sharing his professional knowledge and experience with other Doctors of Chiropractic. The goal of Chiro1 is to improve the quality and availability of conservative and non-surgical Chiropractic care not only at MCC but around the country and the world. Since its inception, Chiro1 has helped scores of Chiropractors and Chiropractic offices to improve professionalism, practice skills and to serve more patients. This is just the start. The pace of change is increasing and the future certainly looks bright.
